It is that time of year again, the beginning of the end for many high school seniors. Friday night football games, homecoming, senior photos and planning for what comes next. I remember it being overwhelming, but it was also so very exciting. This chapter may have many highs (and even some lows), but for most their book of life is just getting started.
This is why senior photos are one of my favorite kinds of sessions. I love capturing this time in a young person’s life. The joy in their eyes, their dreams of the future, and their parents wondering where the time went. There is just something about the whole thing that is so special and makes my soul happy.
Connor’s session in downtown Brighton was short and sweet. I was told he didn’t want the whole senior session experience, so I was happy to accommodate this by suggesting we just shoot a normal 30 minute portrait session. Like many of my clients though, Connor began to get into the session. I got lots of natural expressions, some wonderful smiles, and even a few genuine laughs. The best was when I showed mom the back of camera and she said “yes, that is totally him.” There is no better compliment for a photographer than hearing we captured the essence of a person.
Amie and Connor, thank you so much for trusting me with this special session. My hope and prayer is that in the future you will look back at these images fondly and remember all the mixed emotions that senior year brought you both. Amie, I also hope your heart swells with pride over your son. Not only did he start his own business while in high school (oh, I’ll be booking an appointment soon, don’t worry), but he is very polite and is so sweet and kind. Cheers to senior year, XO, Kelly.
