Black and white personality mini sessions can be a fun and memorable experience, especially when working with little ones. Recently, I photographed four little girls for one of these shoots at the Brighton Light House. Both the session and set up were super simple and produced some amazing results.
The set up was a white background, which is not distracting and allowed the personalities to shine through. The black and white photos added a classic touch and highlighted the unique features of each girl. The prompts I gave them were designed to encourage playful expressions and bring out a range of emotions.
One of the prompts was to make a funny face. This led to a burst of laughter and some hilarious expressions, from sticking their tongues out to amusingly scrunched up faces. Other prompts included blow out your cheeks like a chipmunk, what sound does a dinosaur make, imagine seeing all your presents on Christmas morning and how big do you want to be when you grow up. It was clear that they were having a lot of fun, and this was reflected in the photos.
Overall, this personality mini session was a great success. The girls had a lot of fun, and the resulting photos were beautiful and unique. It just goes to show that sometimes the simplest ideas can produce the most amazing results that will adorn walls and halls for years to come.
