On a perfectly beautiful summer night, at a perfectly beautiful location, under a perfectly beautiful tree, a perfectly beautiful couple said “I do.”
A few months back, Claire came to me as referral, when we spoke on the phone I could feel her joyful heart and just knew I wanted to shoot her wedding. She explained they were planning a small intimate wedding, under a quick timeline, because her soon to be sister in law was moving out of the country and she couldn’t ever image a wedding with out her there. They rented a farmhouse from AirBNB, she was growing her own flowers at her in-laws house, her mom designed her stunning invitation suite, friends from church were catering the event, her dad wasn’t just giving her way, but was officiating the wedding, and her fiancé was making the wedding bands himself! One thing they didn’t have locked down was a photographer. I explained everything that was included in my wedding my package and my style, then told her I understood it was a big decision, to talk to Chayce and get back to me. But, deep down in my heart, I knew I wanted to work with this couple and be their wedding photographer. When she confirmed her booking, I was pumped, I started counting the down the days.
This wedding lived up to and surpassed my expectations. It was exactly how I envisioned it, colorful and timeless. From the miss matched china, to the hand picked wildflowers, and the cake with real fruit, it was stunning. But, what made the evening so wonderful for me was meeting all Claire and Chayce’s family and friends. This was an amazing and loving group of people. Watching everyone come together to make this wedding perfect, was heart warming. I even witnessed her Dad checking on the table settings to ensure everything was perfect for his first born daughter.
As me and my wonderful assistant wrapped up for the night, it was so hard to leave. Everyone was still having a wonderful time and I didn’t want to miss a moment of fun. They were line dancing to Foot Loose and singing “Don’t Stop Believing” from the top of their lungs. The fire cracked and the sun was finally setting as I bid my farewell to this wonderful couple.
I hope I get a chance to work with them again, perhaps baby photos will be in their future.
Thank you Claire and Chayce for taking such a chance with me. I know how important this day was for you and hope as you look back on these images you remember how much joy and love was in your hearts, as you declared your vows to each other before God and your friends and family (under your special “Party Tree”). I wish you nothing but the best in the many years you have ahead as Mr. and Mrs. Griffith. Cheers to you and enjoy your honeymoon in Europe. XO, Kelly Harper
Taryn and Dan’s wedding at Waldenwoods felt like a love story plucked straight from the pages of a dreamy novel or a verse of a good Taylor Swift song—and honestly, that was the vibe Taryn had in mind. BTW she nailed it!!!
If I could describe Adrianne and John’s wedding day at ‘Collins at the Clocktower’ in Chelsea, MI in two words it would be “romantic fairytale”. From beginning to end not a detail was missed to make their day as dreamy as possible. The setting inside the venue was the perfect backdrop to bring this vibe to life. The historic landmark is jaw dropping in every way, the simple elegance of the large ceremony space seemed fit just right and the grand ballroom on the third floor with large wall to wall windows overlooking the town spoke for itself!
April and Nick’s wedding was held on the lawn of a charming southern-style clubhouse, with large wrap-around porches and breathtaking views of the Atlantic as their backdrop…
